For the May new moon, we're exploring the Fifth Remembering:

KINSHIP

You are a creature of kinship. To consciously inhabit your place in the web of relations you are entangled within is an act of remembering.

Kinship consciousness is foundational to all other aspects of the work of True Human and of EnLifenment.

The remembrance of kinship is a slow restitching of intimacy with the animate Earth community, awakening your body’s knowing of the pulsating wholeness that makes you possible. In kinship, you touch and are touched. Love—for the specific uniqueness of another—cracks you open, repeatedly, to the intricate miracle of entanglement. You realize that you are simultaneously a sovereign center and a relational being constructed of, by, and for relationships. This runs to the very heart of selfhood.

In Karen Barad’s words, “To be entangled is not simply to be intertwined with another, as in the joining of separate entities, but to lack an independent, self-contained existence.”

Join me for the May new moon to unwind aspects of separation that keep you from seeing, feeling, and enacting your life in interdependence, and to step more deeply and specifically into kinship relationships in your life.

The Rememberings are the basic teachings of EnLifenment from Chapter 6 of True Human: Reimagining Ourselves at the End of Our World. These are ontological teachings—gateways to seeing, knowing, and experiencing ourselves as co-creative participants in Life's Song.

Let's gather not with the intention to get anywhere, but with a gentle-fierce commitment to learn, explore authentic connection, engage in good-faith inquiry, and tend the wild entanglement of our humanity. This is a Life-Centric Sangha (a community of sacred practice) where we practice EnLifenment together.
