About the event

On the Winter Solstice, Sunday December 21st, come gather at the top of Mount Tamalpais for the second annual One Life Circle Winter Solstice Prayer!

The intention is to anchor a tradition that aligns us with Gaian time as it grounds us in knowing that our home mountain and our bioregion are sacred places and that the love, energy, and attention of our community are sacraments that amplify the sacredness.

Here's the plan:

In the hour before sunset on this longest night of the year, we converge on the top of our local holy mountain (with a 360° view of our bioregion) to express our gratitude as we lay the past year to rest, reflect on resilience and hope during this darkest time of the year, and make prayers of protection and renewal for land, water, community, our more-than-human relatives, and our bioregion.

Meet at the Mill Valley Good Earth @2:30 to carpool to the top of East Peak. From there, we will hike the remaining half mile to the top.

If it's raining:

If it's raining, we will forfeit. We don't want a bunch of us driving in the wet, dark on winding roads. In this instance, please light a candle at home and engage in the same prayers during the sunset window. (If in question, text Samantha @ 415-205-8704.)

Bring:

Warm, windproof layers. Good shoes. A headlamp. A full tank of gas.

Timings:

Sunset is 4:55

Drive time: 34 minutes

2:30 - Gather in the Good Earth Parking Lot

3:00 - Carpool leaves promptly

3:45 - Converge at "Mt. Tamalpais Gravity Barn" lot (aka: the last lot)

(For anyone not driving from the Good Earth, aim to be at the top of the mountain by 3:45)

3:50 - hike together to the top

Directions:

  • From anywhere - Enter “East Peak” into your GPS

  • Whether coming from North or South, take the Stinson Beach/445B exit from Hwy 101

  • L on Highway 1 west towards Stinson Beach to Panoramic Highway. Turn Right onto Panoramic Highway.

  • R on Panoramic Highway up the mountain. You’ll pass Mountain Home Inn on the right. Great for a post-hike meal or drinks!

  • R on Pantoll Road (at the Pantoll Campground)

  • Pantoll Road ends at Ridgecrest Blvd.

  • R on Ridgecrest to the parking lot at the end

This is a bioregional ritual of re-weaving ourselves into the sacred fabric of relations with land, seasonal cycles, kindred beings, and our human community - a foundation of regenerative culture.

Thanks in advance for engaging with me in this act of shared culture creation.

Love,

Samantha & The One Life Circle
